About Lovewise
Lovewise is a charity which seeks to help schools and youth groups by providing presentations on the subjects of marriage, sex and relationships from a Christian perspective.
Lovewise was started on Tyneside in 2002 by two paediatric doctors and a head teacher of a local secondary school. Together they were becoming increasingly concerned by the number of young people in their clinics and school suffering from the consequences of sex outside marriage and the disintegration of home life.
Seeing the need of young people for a moral framework in which to enjoy relationships and wanting to warn young people to avoid the important medical consequences of sex outside marriage, they developed presentations that encourage them to consider the God-given design of marriage and the rightness and benefits of keeping sex for marriage.
Lovewise resources are presented by volunteer presenters and volunteer teams in schools and youth groups in different parts of the country. It is our aim to set up more Lovewise teams so that more areas can be served. Our resources can also be purchased from the office.
As a school we are very grateful that we have access to a service that sends the 'right' message to our students.
Secondary Teacher
Thanks for talking to our youth group on Friday night. I thought the material was great and you pitched it at just the right level for them.

About our Resources
All presentations have been written by two paediatricians, Dr Chris Richards and Dr Liz Jones with input from other health professionals, teachers and parents.
Our presentations for schools aim to fulfil the 2000 DfES guidance - that pupils should 'learn about the nature of marriage and its importance for family life and the bringing up of children' and be helped to 'develop positive values and a moral framework that will guide their decisions, judgement and behaviour'.
Our presentations have been used successfully in schools around the UK. Each uses a combination of PowerPoint presentations and video clips.
Promotional Materials
A variety of leaflets and promotional discs are available to introduce people to the services and resources that we offer. Please contact the office indicating whether you are interested in material for use in primary schools, secondary schools, church groups or at home. Appropriate leaflets or promotional discs will be sent out to you.
Parents and Sex Education
Many parents contact Lovewise because they are concerned about the sex education their children are receiving in school. We are happy to discuss parental concerns, give advice and suggest alternative resources where appropriate.
Supporting Lovewise
We are grateful for the large number of people all over the country who support our work and as a Christian organisation acknowledge our total dependence on the prayers and financial gifts of our supporters.
Join the Mailing List
The best way to keep up to date with all that happens at Lovewise is to join the mailing list and to receive our quarterly Update (usually by post) and intermittent Prayer News bulletins by email. Our August Update comprises our Annual Review.
Financial Support
Lovewise is largely supported financially by individual donors. Donations can be one-off or regular and gift-aided donations are clearly beneficial. Donations can remain anonymous. We do not currently have an online giving scheme.
