growing up ...growing wise
...is a resource for schools containing four interactive PowerPoint sessions for Key Stage 2 children in Years 5 & 6 (although teachers of Year 7 have also found it a helpful resource). It contains video clips and comes complete with a user guide containing lesson plans, worksheets and printed slide-by-slide lesson guides.
This presentation covers friendship, puberty, love & marriage from a Christian perspective:
Lesson 1 - 'Growing Up'
The children are challenged to consider what it is like to be an adult, why they change through puberty and how to make good choices as they grow up.
Lesson 2 - 'Love & Marriage'
Looks at the meaning of love and considers what marriage is about. We then listen to the marriage vows and examine what these promises mean.
Lesson 3 - 'Guys & Girls Growing Up'
This session explains how our bodies change during puberty and how a baby is formed from conception to birth.
Lesson 4 - 'Aiming for the Best in Relationships'
Looks at the qualities of friendship and how faithfulness, helpfulness and forgiveness are important in marriage. The different roles of men and women in marriage are then discussed. This lesson ends with a quiz that summarises all four lessons.
